And we got to watch our three year old dance to his favorite songs. The DVD is great, my wife and I sat down and enjoyed this very much. If you like David Crowder or upbeat christian music, or music in general, you won't be disappointed.
Before listening to this I had been listening to A Collision. It really puts me in the praising frame of mind.
Thank you Heavenly Father for the gifts you've given our brothers David Crowder and his band. It's easy to get caught up with the day to day and forget to praise the Lord, but this album helps me get there.
I am a stay at home mom and spend most my days with three kids age 2 and under. When my two year old hears the clapping and shouting she raises her hands and says "Yay Jesus." Thank you David Crowder for putting your heart into worship and helping others do the same.
I normally don't like live music recordings, so when I received this as a gift last Christmas it took me until about a week ago to really give it a try. I actually like this live album more than A Collision.
Hearing the screams and clapping help that, too (where in the past that type of thing was an annoyance to me).
Get this, it's awesome. Pick a song, and you get video of the band member you selected teaching you how to play his part of the song. Fans of David Crowder won't be disappointed. You pick a band member, and another menu opens up that has all the songs on the dvd. Awesome idea. I play guitar, and it's really pretty cool to sit down (sort of) with David Crowder and have him teach you how to play a song. The music is fun ,upbeat, worshipful, and the sound quality is good. Here's how it works: You get a menu that has all the band members names.
They go through the equipment used, effects, etc. I hope more praise bands steal this idea (sorry, David). It's hard to go wrong with this cd/dvd combo. The dvd is well-shot, and if you turn on subtitles, you get lyrics and guitar chords, which is cool, but if you are a musician, the "Learn the songs" special feature is worth the price of admission even if that was all you got. then show you step-by-step how to play it.
These are not songs for the studio but are fresh anthems for today. New York (which is where this was filmed) is singing for the great King. or just being undone as you cry out with the violin interlude of `You are my joy'. When the crowd exuberantly sings the refrain `La, la, la, la,` that excitement that this is more than just a concert is sensed each time you watch.
If you have woken up a little late to this fresh wave of raw worship that is shouted out with Texan artistic flair - get this DVD and laugh with David and his honest, endearing and unbelievably melodic ways. Having recently seen this band live at the Parachute Festival (January '09 New Zealand) I was hungry for more. Music that repeats phrases followed by lyrics that too are deliberately repetitive but always for effect with a delightful twist that is poetic in style (unlike the repetition of a 90s church chorus not knowing where to end). What great value to have the experience of seeing DCB play live in your living room and then to take the CD with you for car play all for this low price. The David Crowder Band is so like the UK band delirious. in that their songs are intrinsically who they are. The 5.1 and DTS sound on the DVD is arguably a more engaging listening experience than the studio version as most of the material is written for crowd participation. There are a number of times where this occurs and you are drawn into that experience either singing along with the lyric subtitles (chords included).
This package was just what I needed. Catchy melodies, simple yet profound lyrics, edgy pop- rock worship. These songs slip in undetected and in the morning you awake declaring that the King is here. This is a perfect hits package of most of the DCB's music.
After watching the video, I won't do that again. It even appeared they were having fun. I had a chance to see them live about a year ago in a nearby town but passed it up. All the band members show tremendous talent.
